What are delineators?
Delineators are posts produced from steel, iron, TPU, TPE or PVC. Delineators made from steel or iron are termed metal delineators. Metal delineators are heavy (2,5 – 40 kg), while plastic delineators are lightweight (0,6 – 2,1 kg). The standard heights of delineators are 30, 50, 75 and 100 cm. Metal delineators can be hot dip galvanized or coloured with electrostatically powder paints. Plastic delineators made from UV-resistant TPU or TPE can have various colours. Reflective tapes with different reflection rates ( Engineering Grade or High-Intensity Prismatic) adhered on the top part; increase the visibility of delineators. Delineators are mounted on the ground with expansion bolts.
Where are delineators used?
Delineators are either traffic-delineating or area-bordering products. When linked with chains, delineators can encourage pedestrians to stay on marked paths without forming a closed barrier that prevents all crossing. On roads without curbs, delineators can be used to protect vehicles from straying on the street or parking on the pavement.
Metal delineators are ideal for permanent bordering areas like pedestrian zones, playgrounds, bike lanes, and public and market squares. A line of metal bollards can set off a security zone near river sides and lakesides.
Plastic delineators are ideal for delineating lanes, guiding vehicle traffic and forewarning drivers of construction or dangerous zones. Plastic delineators equipped with flashers, signboards and chains are mainly used near road construction areas to prevent accidents. Plastic delineators are flexible and impact resistant- they return to their upright position and proper shape after being run over by a car.
